HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT (HSA)
Take advantage of pretax dollars to pay for medical, dental, and vision expenses with an HSA. Any money you don’t use stays in this account year after year, making it a great way to save for future medical bills. When choosing between funding your HSA or purchasing voluntary benefits, your top priority should always be to fully fund your HSA first.
How an HSA can work for you:
The money is yours to keep. Unlike flexible spending accounts, the money in your HSA isn’t “use it or lose it.” The money you don’t use rolls over from year to year. You can even take it with you if you ever leave Dot/DTI or when you retire.
Funds can be used towards medical, dental, and vision expenses. Use your HSA for doctor visits, medicine, glasses and contact lenses, behavioral health services (like counseling), medical supplies, tests and so much more. Click here for a list of eligible items to spend your HSA or FSA funds.
You can invest your HSA funds today and make more for tomorrow. With a balance of $1,000, you can invest the money in your HSA and actually make money on what you’ve saved, just like a 401(k). The money you earn through investing is also tax free.
No contribution is too small. Even $10 per pay period makes a big difference in preparing for unexpected expenses.
You can use your HSA for high-quality, low-cost health care at the Dot Family Health Center (FHC). While some appointments and medicines are free at the FHC, you can use your HSA to pay for sick visits, discounted prescriptions, and other expenses.

Follow these steps to change your contribution anytime throughout the year.
- Log in to UKG: dotfoods.com/ukg
- Click the Life Events tab
- Select HSA Contribution Change
- Follow the remaining steps accordingly
