Absence and Disability Benefits
There may be times when you need to step away from work to care for yourself or your family. Dot’s absence and disability benefits are designed to provide support during those moments, while you focus on what matters most.
Short-and Long-Term Disability Benefits
Short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) benefits provide income protection if you’re unable to work due to a qualifying medical condition. This coverage is designed to help replace a portion of your pay so you can focus on your health and recovery.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal program that gives eligible employees up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave. This means you can take time away from work without losing your job or benefits.
FMLA leave:
- Can be taken all at once or in smaller, intermittent blocks of time
- Is unpaid but may run at the same time as other paid leave options, like Short-Term Disability (STD), state-paid leave, or your available benefit time
Reasons You May Use FMLA
FMLA is designed to support you and your family during important life events and health needs, including:
- Your own serious health condition
- Caring for a family member with a serious health condition
- Pregnancy, bonding with a new child, or adoption
- Time off related to an ADA accommodation
- Military family leave:
- Caregiver leave to care for a service member with a serious injury or illness
- Exigency leave to handle family needs when a loved one is on active duty
